HOW THE SHOW BEGAN

	"Words Get In The Way"   I grew up marching in drum corps, and directing a few marching bands. A Past Band Rehab Project Yours Truly In The White These days are passed, but my desire to create originals ideas has not. Dissatisfied with the predictable live music scene, but respectful of its enormous talent, I've created as a premium entertainment to my DJ gig... The Show JOHNNY HiHAT and his sizzling Status Cymbals sm   Since I've never been able to carry a tune, I "was forced" to play instruments. So, rhythms have always been where my music begins.  Besides, as the once popular song goes, "Words Get In  The Way."  Hence, rhythms have always been a part of my life... and I have my greatest musical fun around them.   In the stage personna of JOHNNY HiHAT, I share this fun with musical perfection yeilding to rhythmic participation.     BACK TO THE JOHNNY HiHAT SHOW

KING CURTIS   Before breaking out on his own, R&B saxaphonist, King Curtis, played for Lionel Hampton.  He also was a session "ax-man" for such artists as Aretha Franklin, Brook Benton, Boddy Darin, The Coasters, Shirelles and many more.   This "King" knew how to make a "dirty sax" dirtier, and a "yakkity yak sax" stud-stud-stutter more.   While "Memphis Soul Stew" was a only a modest hit charting up to #33 for 4 weeks, it has always been a #1 hit for me... Frankly, he was one of several inspirations for The Johnny HiHat Show which has its roots in compounding rhythms. I use this tune in corporate team-building gigs as an example of SIMPLE INDIVIDUAL PARTS coming together to create a B-I-G SOUND.  Funky at that!    King Curtis was stabbed to death in NYC during August of 1971.   Johnny     "Word Get In The Way" GLORIA ESTAFAN & THE MIAMI SOUND MACHINE #5, 1 Week - Top 40, 13 Weeks First Charted 07/26/86 #1 Adult Contemporary  2 Weeks

THE OTHER JOHNNY...   And because people ask:     In life other than JOHNNY HiHAT, I have spent a parallel career in sales, marketing & development.  I consult to entrepreneurs, corporations, professionals & trades plus "coach" individuals in their varied development needs. Over the years, I have formed businesses ranging from imprinted t-shirts to a fully staffed marketing agency. Currently I'm working on the development of  a foreign film production studio.   But of all gigs, I most enjoy providing people of all ages a great music / dance / party experience which they will hopefully remember long past the event!    BACK TO THE JOHNNY HiHAT SHOW
