You are listening to a "Disco Fever"* by The
Trammps. (See Extensive Footnotes)
Disco is that fascinating musical genre with a discord.
Many claim to dislike it, as if out of a "cool " obligation,
but they more than willingly
dance to it.

* The tune is properly called "Disco Inferno." It
was used in the movie soundtrack of "Saturday Night Fever" and became an anthem of the the Disco Era, even though
it never charted above #11. I have personally renamed it out of respect for people who have died in recent "club"
infernos... and for their surviving families and friends. Nonetheless, this song innocently remains a great tune from
an the era and should be played... not penalized by tragedies which should and could have been avoided**

First Charted 03/25/78
Despite my not having placed one of her songs on this page - due to
the Saturday Night theme - I would be remiss not to mention that "The Queen of Disco" is none other
than Boston native, Donna Summer. Her successes are astronomical: 2 Platinum Recordings... 10 Gold Recordings...
of which combined 4 were #1s... 2 were #2s... 3, were #,3... In all, a total of 218 weeks on the Top 40 for her life's
**Footnote To The Footnote:
While there have always been club tragedies, of late
it seems that there are even more. To me this is made worse by the fact that there is this reported "collected wisdom" incorporated
into state/local codes and that there are officials who should be inspecting the clubs, by the code, to keep the patrons
safe. THAT IS THEIR PUBLIC DUTY!
I grew up in a apartment house where also lived
the city's Fire Chief. Through osmosis, one learns about fire safety from the great ones, as was Chief Killackey.
This was my early experience which shapes my current opinion.
In 2003, I was cataloging music when news broke about
a fire at a club called "The Station" in Warwick RI, just about an hour away. It was 11 pm... First reports were that all
patrons had gotten out alive. I was relieved. However, within days, it was confirmed that 100 patrons had perished.
I was angered.
"The Station" was and remains a local, regional,
and national tragedy. It's back in the news because the club owners are soon to come to trial. Of course,
all the public officials have been exonerated.
I was so angry with this Station fire that
I HAD TO create a website to chronicle it. I DO NOT SUGGEST THAT YOU GO TO IT WHILE ENJOYING THIS
SITE. IT IS DISTRUBING! Enjoy this site and then revisit this page to link over to THE STATION FIRE
I offer the link... and compulsively so... as a reminder
to all who go to clubs and public concerts to do their own diligence regarding your personal safety.
One is foolish to believe that they are safe by just checking to locate
the EXIT signs. Consider this as just one proof of existing code disparity: Most restrooms have no windows,
thus the only escape is through the door which most always opens in. But wait a minute! Fire codes require that external
exit doors open out. True, while this is not an external exit door...
it is THE ONLY EXIT OUT! And trust me, in a packed restroom, one does not want that only exit door out forced closed
by the pressure of people pushing on it to get out!
Soon, I will have completed my WHITE PAPER on event safety. I will
place a link RIGHT HERE for all to download.
