BLOOD ALCOHOL CHART
Print It!  Post It!  Remember It!

Chart Below From
"FACTS ON TAP"
Copyrighted

The info might save you your license,  and a bunch of bucks;
not to mention permanent maiming or your life and perhaps
the same for your friends and innocent people.

REMEMBER THIS

At .08 Blood Alcohol Level,
you're legally drunk when driving vehicles;
.01 when haulin' big rigs.
At .04, which is the "good feeling" state,
one's own motor skills show impairment.

REGARDING RED NUMBERS IN CHART

ONE IS NEAR A LIFE THREATENING STATE
AT THIS LEVEL. HOPEFULLY, BEFORE THEN
MOTHER NATURE WILL PREVAIL AND ONE
IS RENDERED UNCONSCIOUS & VOMITING
TO PRESERVE THEIR LIFE.  BUT THIS
DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN

So Memorize These Points

Quickly consuming a lot of alcohol tricks a person into believing
that s/he is in control... when in fact s/he is in a crisis about to happen.

When people pass-out, they continue to absorb any excess alcohol,
which means that blood alcohol can reach lethal levels while sleeping.
The drinking party is definitely over for this person,
BUT THE DRINKING CRISIS IS NOT.

Alcohol is absorbed quickly;  but, is detoxified very slowly.
Excess alcohol is stored in the blood and tissue waiting for
detox by the liver which rate = about .5 oz of alcohol / hr.
If a person becomes unconscious, is impossible to arouse,
or has trouble breathing, get medical attention PRONTO.
CALL 911!
Saving a person's life is worth their little embarrassment.

NEVER LEAVE A PASSED-OUT PERSON ALONE
until s/he is out of crisis.
THEY COULD DIE.

TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT THIS INFO.

I don't mean to moralize on this page...
I just want you to party-hardy, safely.
Johnny

Blood Alcohol Level (BAL) is the amount of alcohol present in your blood as you drink. It's calculated by determining how many milligrams of alcohol are present in 100 milliliters of blood. But you Don't need a Breathalyzer, a calculator, or a measurement conversion chart to figure out what BAL you had last night. Use the Table of Blood Alcohol Levels below. This is a generalized chart based on a person who is metabolizing (or breaking down) one drink an hour. For example if you are a 120 lb. female drinking seven drinks in one hour, your BAL is a .30%.

If You're a WOMAN, your Blood Alcohol Level is:

Weight
# of drinks in one hour 100 lbs. 120 lbs. 140 lbs. 160 lbs. 180 lbs. 200 lbs. 220 lbs. 240 lbs.
1 .05 .04 .04 .03 .03 .03 .02 .02

REMEMBER: While this chart is a good general guideline, every individual reacts differently to alcohol. The chart doesn't take into account your individual body composition, your use of medication, your mood changes, or your personal metabolism rate. Therefore, your blood alcohol level may in fact be slightly higher or slightly lower than the chart indicates for the number of drinks you consume. Just keep in mind that your body processes alcohol at a constant rate of .5 oz. per hour, regardless of how many ounces you consume.

Therefore, the faster that you drink, the higher your blood level will be.

DID YOU KNOW...

  • .08 - .10 blood alcohol level is considered legally drunk.
  • most states practice zero-tolerance laws, meaning if you are under 21 any alcohol in your system is against the law.
